Description
This is a paintable 1:144 scale miniature of a late-model R.A.F. B.E.2c. Since many painters choose their own mounting system, no peg is included on the plane. Pegs can be purchased separately in the Accessories section of this catalog.
This is a late-model B.E.2c with an enlarged fin, vee undercarriage, and two Lewis guns for the front-seat observer. Early-production and mid-production models are also available.
While the B.E.2c was a fine machine for the demands of 1914, it suffered in 1915 with the rise of the Fokker Eindeckers, and by 1916-1917 it was hopelessly outmatched by its opponents. So while we remember it today as a hapless victim of “Bloody April”, the story is really that it was allowed to soldier on much past its natural lifetime when it should have been replaced in 1916.
The model is offered in different materials. See the FAQ for a comparison of the different material choices. In the Shipping tab, please note the increased shipping costs for an order with mixed materials.
